Statement from the RTBU:NSW Government must end delay tactics and return to negotiations
17 January 2025
After the Fair Work Commission’s suspension of industrial action due to procedural reasons, RTBU NSW is calling on the NSW Government to stop the delay tactics and return to the bargaining table.
It’s been 45 days since the government last sat down with the Combined Rail Union, and instead of taking responsibility, they’ve chosen to play political games and shift blame, all while leaving workers and commuters in limbo.
Rail workers are willing to give up their industrial action if the government resumed negotiations to end this dispute once and for all.
The unions will provide the NSW Government with a counteroffer for basic, reasonable demands: fair wages, safer conditions, and job security. These issues can be resolved quickly, but only if the government steps up.
The government must stop stalling with tit for tat disruptions and engage in meaningful talks. There is still time to resolve this dispute—but only if the government acts now.
