Protected Action Ballot commences tomorrow

Dear members,

It’s been a tough week, after the Labor Government aggressively attacked our union through dubious legal arguments.

However, we have managed to hit back, with the Federal Court willing to hear the case on Monday next week with a decision in the same week. We also convinced the FWC to allow our ballot to be fast tracked to this weekend, finishing on Monday!

Either the overturning of the injunction next week, or our new ballot will reinvigorate our industrial campaign at an important time of year.

If the injunction is overturned, all actions resume immediately (Judge said sometime next week).

Alternatively, when the ballot gets up, we have to give notice and actions will recommence from 28 December, great timing!

The most important immediate step is ensuring the ballot gets up. You should receive voting information tonight.

Once the ballot opens tomorrow at 12pm, vote immediately. You can vote either by SMS or email.

The ballot ends at 4pm on Monday, 16 December – but don’t wait until then!

This fight is shaping up to be a defining moment for our union, let show them what we’ve got.
