New round of industrial action notified as bargaining slows

5 November 2024

Dear Members,

Although there were some important gains made during the intensive bargaining period, the progress has significantly slowed and it seems that either management have run out of puff, or the government has decided that it has given all it has to the process.

We have two bargaining days scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday this week, but the agenda is light on and does not represent the kind of meetings one would expect at this relatively late stage in bargaining.

With all of this in mind, our EA delegates have met and decided that further industrial action is warranted. Actions have now been notified and will commence as follows:

For the last action in the list, we have prepared a table of kilometres available to be worked by train crew broken down by date and classification. We will ensure that members have a copy of that table well in advance of the action coming into effect on 14 November.

We will continue to advocate during bargaining for the remainder of our claims, but it is members’ actions on the ground that produce movement at the table. We’ve seen some great examples of solidarity so far with members enforcing actions in the face of significant management intimidation. Keep up the great work and stay strong.

We will ensure that everyone stays up to date over the next two days and report on any progress we have made.

In unity,

RTBU NSW
