Meeting with the Minister and Premier – no progress yet
This afternoon – after she made multiple media appearances in the morning – we met with the Transport Minster along with her staff, the Transport Secretary, and Sydney Trains Chief Executive Matt Longland.
The meeting was regarding the status of our bargain including wages, the multi enterprise agreement, and our remaining conditions claims.
Unfortunately the meeting didn’t get us very far, but it is good that there is at least some level of political buy in now. The Premier popped into the room in the late afternoon and said some encouraging things, and invited us back to Parliament House tomorrow to continue the discussion.
Contrary to comments made by the Sydney Trains Chief Executive and the Transport Minister – and repeated in the media – we are not on strike tomorrow.
As we said this morning in our communications, the earliest our bans will take effect is the time the last timetable service gets put to bed on Friday morning. If tomorrow does not bear any fruit and the Government does not run 24 hour services, we will produce a comprehensive explainer document for all members on what to do and when come Friday morning.
Until then, stay safe and look out for each other.
