EA Update – Voting order and ETU position
On Thursday last week, the Rail Agencies asked for the consent of all Unions covered by the Agreement to put it out to a vote of all employees for approval.
This is a new step in the process that the Rail Agencies have to complete due to the agreement being a multi enterprise agreement.
On Friday, the CRU provided its consent for the agreement to go out for a vote. Unfortunately the ETU did not provide consent.
An application for a voting order has now been lodged with FWC alleging that the ETUs refusal to allow the agreement to go to a vote is unreasonable. If this order is issued, the agreement can go to a vote without the ETU’s consent.
Democracy is at the core of Union values and it is incumbent on all unions to allow members to have a vote on this agreement. We continue to urge the ETU to stop blocking a vote on this agreement.
