Correcting Government misinformation on our action

Dear Members,

As things continue to move fast, we’ll of course make every effort to update you at every step.

To correct some misinformation the Government has been putting out this morning, our action was never beginning on Thursday. The action was notified to start after the last train service on Friday morning if the additional services didn’t run.

There was no agreement in any form to not take action on Thursday. There was never an intention to take action on Thursday.

We’re all used to misinformation, we saw it time and time again during our last bargain. It is what it is, and we all know to take politicians words with a grain of salt.

Of more concern is that the Government didn’t actually read our industrial action notice we sent them on 4 November before they made the drastic decision to shut the network down. 

If we hadn’t have told them yesterday that the action didn’t commence until Friday morning, there is every chance the network would have been unnecessarily shut from Thursday.

We hope the Government comes to the party and fixes the mess of their own making.
