Clearing up media misinformation on our FWC win
24 December 2024
Dear Members,
By now you would have seen multiple reports in the media on the outcome of this morning, as well as a somewhat misleading email from Sydney and NSW Trains.
For clarity, we have set out what the outcome of today was.
Sydney Trains, NSW Trains, the NSW Labor Government, the Industrial Relations minister Sophie Cotsis, Laundy Hotels, Merrivale Hotels, Luna Park, Veolia Waste Services, and North Sydney Leagues Club (YES THAT MANY!) have discontinued their applications before the Fair Work Commission.
We have agreed to revise our industrial action as per the table below.
All other industrial action not listed below remains in place and can be taken at any time.
Our right to take industrial action is preserved, and we can notify new industrial action at any time.
This is the 4th time we’ve beaten a Government who seem intent on removing our right to take industrial action – something all workers should be affronted by!
We know changing industrial action plans is hard, but it is absolutely necessary to pivot and adjust when we are faced with an aggressive and obstinate employer – in this instance it was the NSW Government.
Members will be the judge, but this is a great step forward in this campaign and leaves us open to continue taking industrial action immediately, and to continue notifying new actions to commence early in the new year!
Once again, take note of the “Action ends on” column to determine when the action can and can’t be taken. If your action is not on the list, it stays on indefinitely.
Regards
