Huge win in Federal Court – Industrial Action to recommence immediately

Dear members,

By now, you would have no doubt heard that we won today in the Federal Court. The Government’s case was never strong, but you never know in these proceedings what way the Court will ultimately go.

The effect of the decision is that the Government’s injunction stopping us taking our previous industrial actions is lifted and our industrial action can continue straight away.

Helpfully, Sydney Trains created a list of all industrial action currently on foot for the purpose of shutting us down in the Federal Court – you can find that list here. As we have a solidarity ban on with the other unions, if an action on the list applies to your job, you can take it. We encourage you to do so.

There is no doubt the Government will try another dirty legal trick, and of course we’ll be ready to fight it. But for now, lets engage in our right to take industrial action and show the Government who they’re dealing with.

We know that members are angry, and rightfully so. Your elected officials share your anger and you share ours.

This is what it is to be union. We’re together throughout the highs and the lows – but ultimately there is no Government, Liberal or Labor, that can beat us.
